Tropical Storm Arthur Skirts Virginia’s Coast

Although the “official” start of hurricane season is two weeks away,  Tropical Storm Arthur became the first named storm in the Atlantic for 2020 on Saturday.

Arthur brought heavy rains and strong winds to portions of southeastern North Carolina and Virginia today but is moving in a northeastern direction away from the coast.  Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with tropical-storm-force winds extending up to 115 miles out.
